Hakodate Park in the Summer

We had some nice weather again the other day, so we went back to one of our favorite places - Hakodate Park!

Just the walk there was... I dunno, "nostalgic" seems like too strong a word, but we hadn't really been back to that part of town yet and it was the first place we stayed, so there are a lot of strong good memories associated with that area. It's where we met Hakodate!

There's a great hill near the park, leading up to a magnificent torii.

This isn't a great angle to notice it, but that fountain is also like a big splash pad/wading pool.

I have a picture of this exact spot in the fall; it's crazy how different it looks with different colorings!

If you remember, Hakodate Park also has a small zoo attached to it! I didn't take pictures of every animal, just some of the highlights.

I've seen peacocks showing off before, but this guy was at, like, full go-mode, and he walked around like that for like ten minutes!

Swans look significantly less majestic when you're close enough to see them look like dinosaurs.

One of the last things we did, though, was walk up the little hill to the gazebo overlooking the park from the back. The view from there was magnificent.

What a beautiful place! What a beautiful city!
